Council invoice payments
What are council invoices?
They are invoices raised in respect of personal or commercial services supplied by us.
How to pay
Online
You can pay your invoice online 24 hours a day.
Direct debit
You can set up a direct debit by:
- completing a direct debit form
- calling customer services on 0300 100 1800
In person
If you want to pay your invoice by cash you can make payment in Post offices and wherever you see the PayPoint or Payzone logos (in convenience stores, newsagents, supermarkets and service stations)
You must take your bar coded invoice with you to make a payment because this is needed by these outlets.
Telephone payments
To pay your invoice by telephone please call 0300 100 1800 and select option 5.
Home or telephone banking
You will need the details of our bank account, which are:
- Bank of Scotland, Newtown St Boswells
- Sort Code - 80-17-91
- Account Number - 00217929
All payments must include your invoice number.
By post
Cheques and postal orders should be made payable to 'Scottish Borders Council' and crossed "Not Negotiable - A/C Payee Only". Please write your name, address and invoice number on the back of your cheque or postal order and send it to:

Landfill tax
Where your invoice includes identified landfill tax please note that our landfill tax registration number is 01663 7265 15000. Landfill tax is not deductable input tax for VAT purposes.
