Queen's Platinum Jubilee Fund guidance notes

Make sure you read the guidance notes carefully before completing the application form.

The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Fund is funded by us. It has been set up with the aim of encouraging people and communities to come together to celebrate the Queen’s 70 years of public service.

To encourage as many people as possible to get involved in the celebrations, the fund will be open to all non-profit making voluntary and community organisations, schools, Community Councils and Churches.

Grants can be for amounts up to £2.5k.

Make sure that you have quotes for the items you want to purchase.

If your project involves alterations to property or land make sure that you have a lease agreement, written permission of owner or planning permission.

We expect to make decisions on funding within three weeks of the receipt of a fully completed application form.

Applications can be submitted from the 5 January to 30 April 2022.

To achieve the overall aim of the fund we want to fund projects that meet one or both of the following outcomes:

  • communities have more opportunities to come together to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (for example, through events, concerts, open days, street parties)
  • communities have more opportunities to create a lasting legacy of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (for example, improving public spaces, playparks, community gardens)

Communities can either be geographical or communities of interest.

Applications will be assessed on how well the project meets the fund criteria.

What we cannot fund

  • individuals
  • organisations involved in party political activities
  • companies who aim to make a profit
  • spending which has taken place prior to the grant award
  • purchase of alcohol

Who can apply

  • Community Councils
  • schools
  • voluntary/community groups based in the Borders
  • Churches based in the Borders whose project/activity is for the benefit of the wider community

Supporting documents

When submitting your application, make sure you also include the following supporting documents:

  • constitution
  • bank statement (within the last three months)
  • annual accounts (signed and audited within the last 15 months)
  • a quote for each item of expenditure

If your group is not constituted, it must be in partnership with a constituted group who is willing to hold the funds on your behalf (an umbrella body). Submit the supporting documents of the constituted group you are in partnership with, if applicable.

Making your celebration more sustainable

We have made a commitment towards becoming more sustainable and reducing emissions over a number of years. Can you help us to achieve that?

When submitting an application we would like you to consider going plastic-free where possible within your project, and particularly when sourcing items such as bunting, table decorations and napkins etc for your Jubilee celebration. If you are serving food, you may want to consider how you will deal with any leftover stock to reduce food waste.
