Peebles Swimming Pool

Update - 12 July 5pm

We were alerted to reports of a fire at Peebles Swimming Pool on 19 June 2022.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene where they contained and extinguished the fire.

The Swimming Pool sustained some damage which has resulted in it being closed, it will remain closed to enable inspections to take place.

It is expected to reopen but as yet it is not possible to predict when that will be. The Road on Port Brae has been closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, this is expected to remain in force for a number of weeks.

Leader of Scottish Borders Council, Councillor Euan Jardine

“We are aware the closure of the Peebles Swimming Pool has had an impact on many families and individuals in the local area.

“However, I am encouraged at how proactive Live Borders have been in managing the situation, which has included keeping their members up to date, and rescheduling lessons and clubs using other pools across the Borders. I have no doubt the Live Borders team are doing their very best for their members and the wider community, and hope to be able to provide pool time for as many people as possible.”
