About Doors Open Days

Discover Places and Stories on your Doorstep at Doors Open Days Festival 2023

This year, the festival will take place in the Scottish Borders on 2 and 3 September. We have an exciting programme of events and activities across the region and online.

This year we have a particular focus on the region’s unique textile heritage, including your chance to take part in a textile workshops at ReTweed in Eyemouth, learn more about the stitchers who made the Great Tapestry of Scotland, or visit the Textile Collection and Bernat Klein exhibition at Heriot-Watt University.

Download a flyer  to find out which venues are taking part this year.

The full programme and bookings will launch on 17 August and will be available online

Further information

Doors Open Days is Scotland’s largest free festival that celebrates places and stories, new and old. It takes place each year in September across Scotland as part of European Heritage Days.

Events are free and take place in person or online. More information is available on the Doors Open Days website.

We act as regional co-ordinator for the Scottish Borders. We co-ordinate local events which are delivered by a range of partner organisations and individuals.

The festival presents a great opportunity to explore places that are usually closed to the public, and to discover more about local history, architecture and places on your doorstep. It is also an opportunity for groups and venues to share their story, engage with local communities and promote what they do.
