Are you interested in gaining a leadership award?

Then the Performing Arts Leadership Course might be for you. 

What is it?

A one week intensive course designed for young people over the age of 15 who have a particular interest in dance or drama. Students will develop the organisational skills and tools needed to lead classes in dance or drama.

What does it involve?

Sessions cover:

  • leadership skills
  • warm ups and games
  • teaching plans
  • health and safety and child protection.

You will also study contemporary theatre and dance.

How long will it take?

The course consists of 7 intensive days from 9.30am to 5.15pm. At the end of the course you will assist in teaching a workshop to a group of 8-11 year olds. 

What will I get out of it?

At the end of the course you will be awarded Assistant Leadership Level. You will also be eligible to undertake a Bronze Level Youth Achievement Award.

What happens after the course?

You are encouraged to keep up regular attendance at drama or dance sessions and practise your teaching (leading or assisting). Past students have organised placements via a school or community setting to gain experience with a specialist Drama or Dance Workshop Leader.
