What's in it for me?
Our libraries are stocked with all kinds of things for teenagers and young adults including:
- graphic novels
- fiction, from horror to romance
- audiobooks and large print titles
- music
- sport and health
- magazines and newspapers
- music CDs
- DVDs
- homework help books and websites
- non-fiction (information) books filled with everything you've always wanted to know but were afraid to ask!
All books are free to borrow. There is a loan fee for DVDs and music CDs.
We have just added a new subscription to our online resources so if you can't make up your mind which book to read try the Who Next...? website where you can search for favourite authors and find out about others who write in a similar way. You will need your library card number to log in.
All our libraries have computers which are free for members to use, with lots of links to useful homework sites at our Homework Help page as well as fun online games.
How do I join?
Joining the library is free and anyone can join. Ask our library staff for a membership form. If you're under 16 complete your details and ask your parent or guardian to sign and return it, they will need to bring at least one form of ID - further information can be found in joining your local library.
What's going on at my library?
There are lots of activities and events such as crafts and storytelling organised in our libraries. During the school holidays each year all of the libraries take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, with stickers and prizes, activities and events designed to create a real buzz around youngster's reading. The challenge is simple - to read six or more library books, of your own choosing, over the summer.
All these events are free and are usually held during school holidays, after school or on Saturday mornings. Look out for posters in your local library, check individual libraries online or ask our friendly library staff.
