The phrase antisocial behaviour is a term which is often used by people to describe behaviour which they find unacceptable and wrong.
The Antisocial Behaviour (Scotland) Act 2004 defines antisocial behaviour as:
"to act in a manner that causes or is likely to cause alarm or distress; or pursue a course of conduct that causes or is likely to cause alarm or distress to at least one person not in the same household as them."
The term antisocial behaviour can cover a wide range of acts, some more serious than others.
Common types of antisocial behavior in the Scottish Borders include:
- domestic noise
- noisy parties
- dumping litter
- vandalism and graffiti
- threatening or violent behaviour
- verbal abuse.
