The Tweed and salmon fishing
Fishing in the Borders
Fishing resources
The River Tweed has been famous for its salmon fishing since Roman times, with people coming from all over the world to fish it. The Tweed was the first river in the world to be managed for the benefit of the environment and fish. The Tweed Commissioners were set up by Sir Walter Scott, the world famous novelist, and others in 1805.

Learning to fish
TweedStart is a non-profit making, inclusive organisation, with a remit to introduce all ages and social backgrounds to fly fishing. It is an off-shoot of the Tweed Foundation.
TweedStart is much more than teaching people to fish. It's also about making people aware of the importance of good habitat management and the environmental considerations in sustaining healthy river systems.
