Scotland's Great Trails maps and information

A sign on the Southern Upland Way

Four of Scottish Borders' routes are part of Scotland's Great Trails.

The terrain that they pass through varies from open country, hill and moor, woodland, riverside and coastal. These trails vary in length and degree of challenge.

Each route has its own unique character:

  • built heritage on the Borders Abbeys Way
  • pilgrammage to historic sites on St Cuthbert's Way
  • remote countryside on the Southern Upland Way
  • dramatic landscapes and rich wildlife experiences on the Berwickshire Coastal Path.

These routes attract many visitors to the region and provide quality day walks that encourage health and happiness.
