Ranger Led Walk Programme

SBC ranger service

You can join the Countryside Ranger for a led walk through the countryside - during these walks you will find out about the natural and historic environment of the Scottish Borders. The walks come at a small charge.

Our role is to:

  • help people enjoy and understand the Borders countryside
  • help protect and improve areas of land and water visited by the public
  • encourage co-operation between landowners and users
  • provide opportunity to visit the countryside for all ages and abilities.

We also:

  • give talks, lead activities and guided walks
  • assist schools with students' green curiculum - the Rangers will help choose an appropriate study site and will tailor needs as identified by their teachers
  • assist community organisations by providing illustrated talks or by advising on local conservation projects or environmental activities
  • manage sites and paths identified in the Council's Adopted Core Paths Plan
  • improve public access to, and provide interpretation on, sites of natural and cultural heritage interest through the Borders countryside.
