Help with listed buildings and conservation planning

Conservation areas

Planning permission in conservation areas is carefully controlled but not forbidden. This approach ensures that special qualities are maintained, important features are kept and new developments are in line with existing features.

Kelso Townscape Heritage Initiative

A grant scheme available for traditional repairs and restoration works to eligible properties, including shop fronts.

Listed buildings

Listing is the process of protecting buildings with special architectural or historic interest.  The listing can be one of three categories which determines the types of alteration allowed.
