Paths around towns

Paths around towns

In 1994 we were awarded long term funding from Europe for the creation and enhancement of paths. The project that managed the funds was called Scottish Borders Paths and ran until 2008. One of the schemes was the Paths around towns' booklets which continues today.

We currently have 12 booklets and 2 leaflets  based at various towns that include maps, route descriptions and historical and wildlife information. The routes are chosen to suit different abilities ranging from 2km (1 mile) to 22km (13 1/2 miles). We are still creating new collections of routes for settlements with a population of 1000 or more.

We continue to re-print these as they are a very popular guide for locals and visitors to the area.  We work closely with the community in order to include the most popular routes and to maintain closer links with the landowners.
