If you are aged five or over and qualify under the disability criteria you can apply for a National Entitlement Card (NEC) which gives you free travel on buses throughout Scotland.

How to apply

You will have to fill in a form which you can get and return to any contact centre.

Return your completed form along with:

  • passport style photograph
  • proof of your address
  • proof of your entitlement to the card
  • proof of your age (if you are between 11 and 26)

Proof of age (only if you are aged between 11 and 26)

The following documents can be used:

  • birth certificate
  • passport
  • photo driving licence

Proof of address

The following documents can be used:

  • bank or building society statement dated within the past three months
  • child benefit award letter
  • Council Tax bill for the current year
  • current television licence
  • gas, electricity or landline phone bill dated within the past three months

Entitlement

Some of the criteria is listed below:

  • receive attendance allowance
  • hold a blue badge
  • receive higher rate of mobility component of disability living allowance
  • receive higher or middle rate of care component of disability living allowance
  • profoundly or severely deaf
  • registered blind or partially sighted
  • receive war pensions constant attendance allowance

You must provide proof of your entitlement that is dated within the last 12 months.
