Pay and Display and free car parks in the Borders
The Borders has a mixture of Free and "Pay and Display" parking in most of the area's larger towns.
If you use Pay and Display car parks on a regular basis, it is possible to buy annual parking permits. The costs are:
- Resident - £25.00
- Visitor - £40.00

Paying parking fines
Parking fines that are handed out by traffic wardens or police officers should be paid at the Sheriff Court buildings.
Charge Notices, received in pay and display car parks, can be paid:
- Online with your debit or credit card
- by visiting one of our contact centres - pay by cash, cheque, debit or credit card
- by post to the address listed on the charge notice - pay by cheque or postal order
Payment of £20.00 should be made within 21 days. However, if payment is made within the first 10 days of the charge notice being issued the fee is only £10.00
