Community recycling centres

Bin collections

All non-recyclable household waste should be put out for collection in your grey lidded wheeled bin.

Service standards for waste collection

  • household waste is collected on alternate weeks - please see your collection calendar for full details
  • all wheeled bins should be placed at the kerbside for collection by 7am on your designated collection day
  • we provide grey lidded household wheeled bins free of charge - one wheeled bin per household
  • items that are presented outwith your wheeled bin will not be collected
  • squash and flatten as much of your waste as you can to make best use of space in the bin
  • cold loose ash from coal fires must be bagged before it is put in your bin
  • we will advertise through the local media any changes due to public holidays at Christmas and New Year. There will be no change to collection arrangements on the other public holidays throughout the year

Excess rubbish

Excess household rubbish can be taken to your nearest community recycling centre.

There are also temporary disposal points for household waste in Jedburgh, Kelso, Lauder and Newcastleton.

Special uplifts

We can collect large bulky items via a special uplift.
