A one day conference to promote best practice in Nature Based Tourism
Making Tracks began in August 2002 with funding from the Scottish Executive as a direct consequence of the 2001 Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak in Dumfries and Galloway and the Scottish Borders. It aimed to encourage groups of farmers and land-based businesses to work with mainstream tourism businesses to develop sustainable nature-based tourism facilities and services. Further funding was obtained from the Leader+ Programme, resulting in the creation of 20 exciting and innovative collaborative projects.
Nature Based Tourism (NBT) is now firmly on the map across each region with some Making Tracks projects now undergoing further phases of development.
Come and hear from some of these projects about their experiences in setting up and running a business of this nature. Find out about new ideas for NBT and its future potential. An exciting line up of speakers is promised, including Dr David Bellamy who will talk about ‘Sustainable Development’.
