In Tweeddale Museum. Work by painter Janet Melrose and ceramics by Helen Kemp. Exhibition in Tweeddale Museum. Dates in a diary, a piece of music, a line of poetry have continued to influence the work of the painter Janet Melrose. Her work has been described as emotionally charged. She used the motif of the lily, a dog and the outline of a hill for their symbolic qualities and this makes for some disquieting pieces of work. Helen Kemp produces unique ceramic figures, whimsical and dreamlike in their narrative and symbolism. Inspiration comes from Victorian Staffordshire figures, Mexican and North American folk art and Latin American magic realism. This is a Peebles Arts Festival Exhibition. |
