Short Story Writing Workshop with Brain McCabe - The Borders Book Festival Fringe 2005

Date Saturday, June 25, 2005 11:00 - 13:00
Location The Wynd Theatre, Melrose
Cost £10
Contact Arts Development Tel:01750 724901

A must attend event for all aspiring and experienced writers.

A master of the short story genre, Mccabe is the son of a miner from a tightknit mining community near Edinburgh. His writing eschews the fanciful or pretentious with an emphasis on deceptively simple language and description, which paradoxically, heightens the emotional intensity of his subject matter. Short story collections include The Other McCoy (Mainstream/Penguin 1991), A Date With My Wife (Canongate 2001). Also an accomplished poet, see Body Parts (Canongate 1999), every book he has written has won an award. A holder of numerous residencies and fellowships, Brian has just been appointed Edinburgh University's New Writer in Residence and lives in the capital.

Limited places. Book early to avoid disappointment.
