Scottish Local History Week

Local History Week is organised as a national event in Scotland to provide local Libraries with an opportunity to mount exhibitions and organise lectures and other activities relating to the Local History of their area.  The purpose of this annual event is to raise the profile of Local History at a local and national level.  The theme for Local History Week 2008, to coincide with the 500th anniversary of printing in Scotland, is "Newspapers and Printing".  Local History Week 2008 is co-ordinated by the LOCSCOT, a sub-group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals Local Studies Group.
