Archie Cochrane’s brilliant mind and indomitable drive led him to a remarkable life. Twenty years after his death, an exhibition tribute to one of Galashiels’ most illustrious sons.

After a distinguished student career studying medicine, he became involved in the Spanish Civil War. During World War II he spent four years as a prisoner of war and was later awarded the MBE for his work as a medical officer. After the War, his work in the field of epidemiology and clinical trial testing established him as a figure of international importance. |
