This highly physical, fast-paced play steeped in the hedonistic atmosphere of the mid-nineteenth century, follows the astonishing true story of one of the most ambitious and wayward women of her time. High-spirited, hormonal and hysterically funny…
The Legend of Lola Montez is a true story - so what drives an eighteen year-old woman to abandon everyone and everything, reinventing herself completely, in the guise of a Spanish dancer? What lies behind her provocative career path and the gratification she gets from the freedom to be shameless? Where has she abandoned her children, her husbands, her lovers? Known as ‘the most outrageous woman in the world, she caused a King to lose his throne, set off rebellions and riots, mesmerising men both famous and infamous. A fabulous liar, a meddler in politics and a mistress to more men than she cared to remember the beautiful Lola was born, not in Spain, but in Limerick, in 1818. Age range: 14 years and above.
