It's going to be wild!
All 4-12 year olds in the Borders are invited to join this year's summer reading scheme - The Big Wild Read - coming to a Library near you.. The aim of the scheme is to read six books from your local library. Youngsters will receive a log book and stickers to keep track of their reading. Every visit to the library is an opportunity to pick up stickers for the log book to protect the planet. Each reader who successfully completes the scheme will get a medal and certificate. As an added bonus, every book a child reads will earn tree tokens, which will be turned into new trees thanks to the Woodland Trust's Trees for All campaign. The Borders launch of the Big Wild Read will be in Peebles Library on Friday 29th June at 2.30pm. As well as storytelling, there will be laptop and slide-show presentations by the SBC’s senior Countryside Ranger and by the Community Wildlife Officer in charge of the Osprey Project at Glentress. |
