La Boheme features some of the most beautiful operatic music ever composed. Soprano Sarah Redgwick sings the tragic Mimi with the young tenor Nick Ransley making his Scottish Opera debut as the poet, Rodolfo. Derek Clark (Scottish Opera's Head of Music) conducts an ensemble of sixteen musicians from the orchestra of Scottish Opera in an unforgettable evening of music and song.
In the bohemian Latin quarter of Paris, the young poet Rodolfo and his friends live in a carefree existence writing, painting, drinking and avoiding their long-suffering landlord. All this changes when, by chance, Rodolfo meets Mimi, the beautiful seamstress who lives upstairs. They quickly fall in love and, for a time, the world is a wonderful place. However, their happiness is to be shortlived. Rodolfo's obsessive jealousy threatens to tear them apart and unbeknowst to them, a force darker than jealousy and stronger than love has already taken hold of Mimi. Sung in English. Suitable for 6 years and over. Promoted by Scottish Borders Council Arts Development. |
