Safer Communities Team
‘Our Scottish Borders, a safe place to live, work and visit’
Whilst recognising that the Scottish Borders is a relatively safe community, we believe that we must guard against complacency and keep our area a safe place to live, work and visit without people living in fear for their own or other people’s safety. Promoting and living in a safe community is not the responsibility of any one organisation, everyone within the community can play a part.
New Safer Communties Team
Helping to build safer communities in the Scottish Borders is the key role of a new Safer Communities Team and a new Council Warden service.
The new Safer Communities Team brings together the existing Council’s Community Safety and Antisocial Behaviour Units and the Police’s Safer Communities Department, creating a combined unit that will be located at the Council’s Headquarters at Newtown St Boswells. The aim is to provide a co-ordinated response to Community Safety issues in the Scottish Borders.
The focus will be on working with local communities to assist in building safer, stronger communities.

The Community Safety Partnership
There is no single organisation who has sole responsibility for making our communities safer, many organisations can help and that’s why the Community Safety Partnership exists. The Partnership is a body which brings together a range of organisations with an interest or responsibility for making the Scottish Borders the safest place to live, work and visit.
By bringing everyone together we can ensure our services complement each other, make best use of the resources and ultimately deliver better results. The Partnership does not belong to any agency, although it is presently based from Scottish Borders Council headquarters.
The main organisations which are part of the Partnership and work together under this banner are:
