Cheviot Community Safety Panel
The purpose of the Cheviot community Safety panel is to improve the quality of people's lives by actively seeking ways of reducing crime and improving community safety for the people of Kelso, Jedburgh and surrounding areas.
The panel aim to achieve this by:
· Generating crime prevention ideas and piloting initiatives relating to local issues.
· Promoting a greater understanding and cooperation between the Police, Fire Service and the Community.
· Alerting the community to the types of crime prevalent in the area and other areas of concern.
· Reducing the fear of crime.
There is a wide range of representation on the panel from social, public, health, education, voluntary and business sectors who when working together in partnership can impact in a very positive way on every day issues that affect both towns.
Representatives meet once every three months and are kept upto date by the Police on local issues, including crime. The panel members are given access to the whole picture as opposed to anything they may see in the media, which results in an informed decision making process and the ability to tackle current problems using the substantial resources at the panels disposal.
The police assist in supplying information and support when requested but the panel is run by local people, for local people, to solve local problems.

The Kelso Teen Shelter,

Bike Passports given out to new bike owners,
