Served on the former Roxburgh District Council from 1977-1998 and held chairmanship of Technical Services and served over that period on most Committees including Policy and Resources, Finance, Housing Sub Committees and was a founder of Roxburgh Sports Council.Served on Borders Regional Council from 1978-1996 serving on Water and Drainage, Planning & Development, Building Control, and Lothian & Borders Fire Brigade.
