Eligibility to Apply for a Vacancy

Under the terms of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, Section 8, Prevention of Illegal Working, Scottish Borders Council has a legal obligation to ensure that any successful applicant is legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom.

All successful applicants will be required to provide certain documentation:

  • birth certificate issued in the United Kingdom or Republic of Ireland
  • P45
  • pay slip from a previous employer
  • P60 or a National Insurance Number card
