The A7 runs from the south, through the Scottish Borders towards Edinburgh, as does the A68.
Midlothian is home to The Rosslyn Chapel with it's ties to Robert the Bruce and the Gypsies of Yetholm.
Pencuik has the Edinburgh Crystal factory, while one of Europe's longest skiing facilities is nearby.
The Midlothians was also the birthplace of 'Dolly The Sheep' - the first cloned animal - at the Roslin Institute.
