Technical Services - Roads and Fleet Management
Roads and Fleet is the Council's custodian of road and bridges within the Scottish Borders (with the exception of trunk roads). It has been estimated that the nominal value of this asset exceeds £1.6million. The service also manages passenger transport and traffic management. In this role, the Service's mission is "to manage the Council's road and property infrastructure in a condition that satisfies stakeholder, legislative and technical requirements."
The service is also in control of the Council's vehicle and plant fleet, used by all departments. It maintains the fleet in a safe, roadworthy condition and manages the Council's Operator's Licence in accordance with relevant legal requirements. It does this through the Council’s Fleet Management Section.
