General Information on SBLocal
SB Local - the council's FREE Rapid Response Service
SB Local is a FREE service which provides a rapid response to day-
to-day environmental issues that affect roads, parks and cleansing.
It is made up of dedicated three man squads and specialist vehicles which cover the Scottish Borders. They deal with issues such as;
- minor road and footway repairs
- litter control
- fly tipping control
- small scale drainage issues
- cleaning and repairing signs
- bus shelter cleansing
- cutting back vegetation
- temporarily repairing potholes
- and graffiti removal.
There are two dedicated squads that carry out litter picking on trunk roads and other A class routes.The squads can deal with minor safety matters quickly and efficiently, thus minimising the disruption to the public.
When the team does not have the resources to deal with the issue, they have access to a "Small Schemes" budget. This is set aside for projects outside of their capacity and projects can cost £30, or thousands of pounds. Projects are prioritised by area committees to ensure that local people decide what local projects go ahead.
