Principal Role

The section is the first point of contact for the public, councillors, schools and other agencies concerned with road safety. It has a close liaison with Lothian and Borders Police in a safety camera partnership and investigating road accidents. It is also responsible for traffic management including parking restrictions, speed limits and car parking.

Impact on Public Safety

The section’s main aim is to reduce the number of road accidents in the Borders by monitoring accident data, surveying roads and suggesting solutions to improve road safety.
