Shelter Scottish Borders Housing Advice Helpline

Scottish Borders Council funds the Shelter Scottish Borders Housing Advice Project which offers free, independent and confidential advice on:

  • homelessness and homeless prevention
  • rent and mortgage arrears
  • eviction
  • housing benefit
  • dampness and disrepair
  • overcrowding
  • representation in court
  • landlord/tenant disputes.

The advice line is open:

  • Monday and Thursday: 1:00pm - 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 10:00am - 1:00pm
  • Wednesday and Friday: closed

Outside these hours, an answerphone will operate.  You can also contact Shelter's free housing advice helpline on 0808 800 4444 or visit their website (this link will take you to an external site).  Shelter provide free expert and impartial advice on all housing matters for homeless people, private and public sector tenants and owner-occupiers.

Advice and information is also available from Scottish Borders Council's Homelessness Services.
