Children, Young People and Family Support

As part of our goal to support families to live safely together in the community, we recognise that all families face challenges and that any family can be affected by problems.  We are here to help and provide that support when children or young people are at risk, or when things go wrong.  The range of services we offer includes:

Who to contact

If you would like information about any of the services we provide, please follow the above links.  Alternatively, you can telephone 0300 100 1800.

Other services include

  • Intensive support and outreach service - recently established, this service seeks to reduce the number of children in care placements by providing targeted, intensive support where there is a high risk of children requiring to be looked after away from home.
  • Throughcare and aftercare service - the aim of this service is to provide support for young people who are unable to live at home but are not yet ready to live independently.
  • Benefits for children with additional needs - we can also provide advice and support about benefits.

Integrated Children's Services Plan

The Integrated Children's Services Plan for 2005-2008 is published by the Children's Change Group.  This is a partnership project between Scottish Borders Council, NHS Borders, Lothian and Borders Police, the Children's Reporter and the Voluntary Sector.
