Natural Heritage
Scottish Borders Council is working with its partners to protect and enhance our natural environment.
We are committed, with our partners to a Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP). This will lead to the reversal of actions that have seen the local decline or even extinction of animal and plant species. Part of the process will be the creation of Habitat Action Plans (HAPs) and priority lists of species and habitats of conservation concern.
We are working with landowners and farmers on projects to help protect some of our rare bird and butterfly species. Advice on wildlife issues can be obtained from the Natural Heritage Officer or the Countryside Rangers.
