Inspection Notices

Notice of Availability of Accounts for Inspection

Audit of Accounts 2007/08

The Council gives notice in accordance with Section 101 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and the Local Authority Accounts (Scotland) Regulations 1985 that the unaudited Statement of Accounts for the financial year ended 31 March 2008 will be available for public inspection as follows:

  • When:     

            From:     Monday 21 July 2008 until Friday 15 August 2008

                           At Council Headquarters:

                           Monday to Thursday  - 08:45 to 17:00 

                           Friday - 08:45 to 15.45

  • Where:

            Corporate Finance, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, TD6 0SA

            Or on the web site – 24 hours a day    

 

Any person interested may inspect the unaudited Accounts to be audited and all relative books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts and make copies of all or any part of the accounts and the other documents.

 

Enquiries about access to the books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts relating to the accounts may be made at Corporate Finance, Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, TD6 0SA.

 

Any person interested may object to the accounts or to any part of the accounts by:

Sending their objection in writing, together with a statement of the grounds of the objection, to the Controller of Audit, 18 George Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2QU and to the appointed auditors, Audit Scotland, Osborne House, 1/5 Osborne Terrace, Edinburgh, EH12 5HG, no later than Monday 18August 2008 and

 

Sending a copy of that objection and statement to the Head of Corporate Finance at Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells, TD6 0SA.

 

Where any person objects to the accounts the Auditors shall, if requested by that person, or the Council or by any officer of the Council who may be concerned, afford an opportunity of appearing before and being heard by the Auditor with respect to that objection. Any person or officer may appear and be heard personally or by a representative.
