Contact details for Selkirk

Scottish Borders District, Selkirk

A warm welcome awaits you in the Border town of Selkirk

Selkirk, a Royal Burgh, sits proudly above the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys.

A town of braes and wynds and warm-hearted people, Selkirk is a borderer's Border town, with longstanding traditions true to the spirit of the Borders.

Surrounded by the forests of the Southern Uplands, Selkirk is sometimes referred to by poets and historians as 'The Ancient Forest Queen'.  With such a mystical and romantic name, Selkirk is a perfect town for a perfect wedding.

The Registration Office can be found at the foot of the town's High Street, next to the monument celebrating the life of the explorer, Mungo Park.

For small intimate weddings, the Marriage Room can seat 14 guests.  Sir Walter Scott, the famous Scottish writer, sat as Selkirk's Sheriff for 32 years.  His actual courtroom is also available to this day for weddings. Other licensed marriage venues are shown below. Wedding couples can also obtain their own licences for other venues of their choice, including unusual locations.
