Contact details for Kelso
Scottish Borders District, Kelso
A warm welcome awaits you in the Border town of Kelso.
Kelso, a picturesque market town, is situated at the meeting point of the two main Border's rivers, the Tweed and the Teviot.
A thriving market town, with a wide cobbled Square, individually painted buildings, Kelso is also home to the remains of a 12th Century Abbey.
From the splendour of Floors Castle, set in beautiful parklands bordered by the Tweed, to the wild moorland on the fringes of the Cheviot Hills, Kelso lies in an area which draws visitors all year round.
The Registration Office is located within the historic 19th Century Town House, which is the main building in the cobbled Square.
The Marriage Room, which can accommodate about 30 guests, has wood-panelled walls and has an impressive carved stone fireplace, in front of which marriages are conducted.
For larger wedding parties, 60 guests can be accommodated in the Chamber on the first floor. This is a beautiful room, with wood-panelling, decorative plasterwork and a stained glass panel depicting the town's history, which goes back to the founding of the Abbey. Other licensed marriage venues are shown below. Wedding couples can also obtain their own licences for other venues of their choice, including unusual locations.
