Contact details for Galashiels

Scottish Borders District, Galashiels

A warm welcome awaits you in the Border town of Galashiels

Galashiels, a bustling, central Border's town, is graced by beautiful gardens which adjoin the High Street.

With an illustrious history in the textile industry, Galashiels, amongst many of the Border towns, has an equally outstanding reputation in the challenging sport of rugby.

There are many lovely places to visit, both within the town itself and in the surrounding area.  Old Gala House, a short walk from the Registration Office, is an ancient Laird's house dating back to the 16th Century.  It is set in beautiful and secluded gardens, complete with fountain and small waterfall with an attractive little bridge from which to view the beautiful flower borders.

The Registration Office is housed  in the Library Building, in Lawyers' Brae, on the very edge of the main thoroughfare entering the town.

The Marriage Room, within the Registration Office, can comfortably seat about 20 guests.

Other licensed marriage venues are shown below. Wedding couples can also obtain their own licences for other venues of their choice, including unusual locations.
