Chief Executive: David HumeDavid Hume, Chief Executive - Scottish Borders Council

The Council's Chief Executive is the Head of the Council's paid service. He is responsible to the members of the Council for the efficient and effective operation of the Council and its business and is the main point of contact between the members of the council and the officials.

The Chief Executive is responsible for guiding and advising the authority on policy and ensuring that the Council's aims and objectives are met.

In carrying out these responsibilities, the Chief Executive is supported by a small department, which comprises the following sections:

In addition, the Chief Executive, Leader and Depute Leader have access to a small personal support section, comprising Chief Executive's Business Manager; Administrative Officer and Leader and Depute Leader's Secretary.
