Emergency Planning
The main purpose of the Emergency Planning Section is to ensure that Scottish Borders Council’s response to any civil emergency
meets the expectations of the Borders Community.
This response includes:
- Supporting and assisting the Emergency Services - includes contact details for all emergency services
- Supporting and caring for the Community
- Taking steps to reduce the impact of the incident on people and the environment
- Supporting the Chief Executive in taking the lead role during the return to normality
To achieve this we must:
- Prepare response plans, both statutory and non-statutory
- Co-ordinate the council’s response during the emergency phase of any incident
- Act as advisors to the Chief Executive
- Liaise with emergency services and other organisations to ensure an integrated response to emergency management.
