External Funding

It is very important to attract as much external funding to the Scottish Borders as possible.

External funding allows the Council to progress a wide range of actions and initiatives - from those required by local voluntary groups to the strategic projects under the economic and regeneration proposals for the Scottish Borders.

The Business Improvement Unit is responsible for supporting the Council's objective of maximising external funding. We do this by :

  • developing an external funding strategy for New Ways covering EU, Lottery and other sources
  • producing an external funding guide supporting the work of the South of Scotland Objective 2 and Lowland Scotland Objective 3 Partnership
  • providing advice on lottery advice and support to Council services, partnership bodies, community and voluntary groups
  • participation in national lottery networks and local advisory groups
  • supporting trans-national linkages through supporting the Council's membership of the Conference of Peripheral and Maritime Regions, the North Sea Commission and the development of partnerships - the first being signed with the Sjuharad area in West Sweden.
