Best Value is all about improving performance and delivering better Council services for the Scottish Borders.
The Council provides a wide range of essential services that have an effect on all our lives. All these services make competing demands on the limited resources we have. As a result the Council needs to deliver services that provide Best Value - providing the right balance between quality and cost.
The objective of Best Value is to ensure continuous improvement in the performance of the services provided by your Council. This helps Councillors and Council managers ensure that Council staff provide you with better and more responsive services.
It is our job in the Business Improvement Unit to support the delivery of Best Value. We do this by:
- providing the Council with an effective framework for Performance Management and Continuous Improvement
- providing guidance and support for the development of the Council's Corporate Plan and Portfolio Business Plans
- project managing the Modernising Services Programme
- managing the rollout of SBExcellence - the Council's approach to quality based on the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM)
- supporting the Council's Improvement Review Programme
- developing the Council's Public Performance Reporting arrangements
